Do you ever stop and listen to the negative words you say to yourself? Do you notice how you feel after another glass of wine? Do you force yourself to show up at social events that you would rather not go to?

These are just some examples of how your inner world may be giving you clues on what they need, and don't need. With parts work we are learning to re-parent ourselves and to really listen to our internal reactions to our behaviors.

The thing is we don't have to be the most awesome perfect parent to our inner child. That hope and expectation is a set up that we will surely fail and probably just give up trying.

British psychoanalyst and pediatrician, Donald Winnicott, coined the phrase "good enough mother" meaning that there is no such thing as a perfect parent and a child thrives with "good enough" attending to and care.

Watch the video to get an introduction on how we can turn Winnicott's theory into "good enough" reparenting for your inner child.
